Our Goal

We were fighting to rank for one of the most competitive terms in the legal space - CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYER IN LAS VEGAS and the strategy was simple: earn genuine links from large, trusted publications through Digital PR.

THE STRATEGY

Crime is something Americans care about deeply - but most reporting on it is scattered, local, and based on gut feeling rather than numbers. Nobody had pulled together a clean, ranked breakdown of which U.S. cities were seeing the sharpest rises, backed by FBI data.

So we did it. We analysed FBI crime statistics across major U.S. cities, ranking them by total crime rate per 100,000 residents over a six-month period. The research covered violent crime, property crime, and total reported incidents - which gave us different angles to pitch depending on the outlet.

Three things made this work:

  • It was relevant: crime and public safety sit right in the middle of law, local news, and lifestyle coverage
  • It was credible: FBI data meant journalists could publish it without having to verify anything from scratch
  • It was a headline: Memphis at the top, followed by St. Louis and Detroit; editors had something valid to work with

For national outlets, we led with the full ranking. For regional publications, we tailored the pitch to whichever cities were in their backyard. Same research, sharper hook.

THE RESULTS

35 Links. Average DR of 77. Publications With Millions of Readers.

We secured 35 backlinks from some of the most-read news outlets in the U.S.- most of them dofollow, most of them sitting between DR 70 and DR 94. That's a level of coverage most law firms never get close to.

Publications that covered the story:

  • Men's Journal (DR 85) — 15M+ monthly readers
  • Miami Herald (DR 87) — 3.6M+ monthly readers
  • Sacramento Bee (DR 85) — 1.5M+ monthly readers
  • Kansas City Star (DR 83) — 1.7M+ monthly readers
  • News & Observer (DR 83) — 1.2M+ monthly readers
  • Charlotte Observer (DR 82), Star-Telegram (DR 81), and more
  • MSN (DR 92) and Yahoo News (DR 94) — billions of monthly visitors combined
  • 20+ regional publications across

In one campaign, the firm went from having limited coverage to being cited across some of the most trusted news names in the United States.

What changed for the client:

  • A stronger, more authoritative link profile;  built on genuine editorial coverage
  • Brand presence in national and regional press the firm had never appeared in before
  • Visibility with readers who are exactly the kind of people who need legal help
